Senior High School
Project Cost: $28.6 mil

Location: Dubuque, IA
Dubuque Senior High School is a historic building from 1890 that endures as a beloved architectural treasure to the community.
The new improvements included the renovation of classroom, practice and storage space in the visual arts, music and theater departments; creation of new special education and physical education learning spaces; installation of air conditioning throughout the entire building; revamping the school auditorium; the addition of a new staircase and elevator; and construction of two major additions. Tricon completed this 3-year project on-time.
The auditorium work included a new event entrance and a theater support addition, as well as new seating, catwalks and sound and video capability.
Much of the heaviest work was completed over summers to minimize the impact of the construction project on students. The project was completed such that 10 classrooms or fewer are offline at a time during the school year. Students continued to be in the building during the renovation process and no plans were needed to relocate classes to other areas.
Site safety was the main focus on this project as we worked around the students and staff for 3 years.
